Transgender held for Attacking ???

A 27-year-old transgender, who was arrested last week for conspiring to eliminate his alleged lover of one year after the latter got married with a woman, escaped from police custody on Saturday. Kiran alias Anuja Narsingh Koli pushed the constable, jumped off the auto rickshaw while being taken to the lock up. Taking advantage of the bustling Shanipar Chowk he melted into the crowd.

Koli has also been booked for escaping from police custody. A case has been registered at the Vishrambaug Police station. On May 4, Koli's alleged lover Shridhar Khandave (24) was attacked by three unidentified men.
According to a complaint lodged by Khandave's wife Anamika, three men stormed into their house and attacked her husband with hockey sticks and wooden batons, leaving him seriously injured.

The men who attacked her husband threatened him of dire consequences if he didn't continue his alleged relationship with Koli. The trio said that they were sent by Koli. According to Anamika's statement, Koli was forcing Khandave to continue their relationship even after marriage. But when Khandave turned down his overtures, the jilted lover went to the extent of plotting his murder.

Shridhar's marriage to a girl disturbed Kiran. Enraged, he decided to hire men to eliminate his lover.
Khandave is critical, battling for life at Sassoon. Inspector A D Patil confirmed that Koli pushed Constable Memane aside and jumped off the auto at Shanipar Chowk while being taken to Faraskhana lockup.
Patil said an inquiry will be launched against Memane and then only action will be taken against him.??

Transwoman refused entry at Dubai Aairport ??

Jen Janice (see pic above) is not a well-known name in transactivist circles but many see her as having done so much more than others for making great strides in the corporate world. Jen Janice is currently a Program Manager for a multinational based in the Netherlands. She has worked for the same company for many years in Singapore where she is originally from until two years ago when she decided to make the big move to their Netherlands head office.

I had the honor of meeting Jen in Copenhagen for the World Outgames where she talked about her rise in the corporate ladder as an out and proud transwoman. We hit it off really well and have kept in touch since. Besides her obvious intelligence, corporate savvy and professional credentials, Jen is a very caring, sweet and motherly person. I know for a fact that she has mentored a lot of underprivileged transgirls while living in Singapore. She is also a great cook and I have seen her whip up a storm in the kitchen producing the most delectable of foods.

It was a shock for me to learn that she was held at the Dubai airport on her way back to the Netherlands on a business trip. She wanted to visit some friend in Dubai but was not let in. You can read her full story below. Fortunately, Jen wants change at the Dubai airport and hopefully her case will be the first step towards better treatment of all especially transgender people when they enter the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Transgender being refused entry into Dubai
Being showcased like an attraction

Baffled, sad and most of all upset. Those were the feelings which came up when Jan
Janice reported at Customs at the airport of Dubai - one of the seven Arab Emirates
- together with other passengers. What should have been a pleasant visit to friends ended up in a drama. "As a transgender, I have never ever been so humiliated onto the bone".

Without the faintest idea, Jen Janice got off the plane on that hot December day
and went through Customs. A few days ago she had decided to continue to the
United Arab Emirates to visit some friends, after a business meeting in Kuwait. She
was very much looking forward to it, as it had been a while since she seen her
friends. But in her wildest dreams she would not have guessed the end result. "I
was queuing up at customs and I was dressed modestly. When it was finally my
turn, the customs official studied my passport. He then called for help from passing-by colleague". Jen Janice was stunned. Because she is unable to speak Arabic, she could not make out any of the conversation following that. His stern
facial expression then changed when he heard a remark from a colleague. "I was clearly the subject. A few times, he looked at me in minute detail and then back into my passport. That was so humiliating." Because she has not had her Sexual Corrective Surgery (SRS), Jan Janice is still registered as a male.

And then the long wait started. Jen Janice was taken out of the queue and into a separate room. "Another man joined them and together they started asking all sorts of questions. What I wanted to do in their country and why I looked the way I do? One of the officials just could not understand why I am a man but look like a woman". The men did not know what to do with her. Next, like a criminal she was taken to yet another room where she had to wait for hours again. When I asked if I could call one of my friends, they reacted rigidly that that was absolutely not possible. They also asked me why I wanted to be a woman. They were very intimidating. On top of that, it was very humiliating that more and more customs
officials came into the room just to have a look at me. They all started laughing/giggling. Although it had not been mentioned yet, at that time it daunted upon me that I would be deported."

She still is livid having been put up as a curiosity. "My passport reads that I am a
male. But from when I was nineteen, I already felt like a women. This has never been a problem work-wise. My management and direct colleagues respect me for who I am."
In the airport the doors were opened up and Jen Janice was taken to another room by
some airport ground-handling staff. In the departure hall we caught the attention of quite some people. In the room where she subsequently had to take place were another fifty or-so people from different countries who just like Jen Janice, would be deported. "I then lost courage. I was told officially that I would have to leave the country immediately. I felt dismayed and could have easily cried. My dignity was at stake. No reason was given as to why I had to leave. I was extremely sad that this had to happen to me. I had only wanted to visit my friends and meant no harm. Via Blackberry, I then finally managed to contact my manager. She was on the road and reacted upset when she heard my story. My employer then offered
help and arranged for my return trip. Not easy, because many flights had been canceled due to the heavy snowfall at Schipol airport. I was really lucky being able to leave so quickly. Else, I might have had to stay for two days in that room amongst all those other deportees.

Back in the Netherlands, she is determined not to drop the story. Although the planned visit to her friends was purely for pleasure, her employer is supporting her wholeheartedly. "Early January, I have sent a letter to the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates in Singapore as I still hold a Singapore passport. But up until now I have not received a reply. The Singapore embassy in the United Arab Emirates is looking into the matter. "In future, without a doubt, I will need to travel for business to the UAE more often. So then it should be clear as to what I can expect. We've got a big leap ahead of us before transgender ladies can be themselves. All my life, I've been fighting to prove that I'm just like everyone else. The
fact that I have to continue to proof myself is inhumane."

Dubai Court Fines Man For Crossdressing

An Indian national working in Dubai as an administrator with a property development company has been sentenced to a six-month suspended jail term and fined $2,722 for cross-dressing and wearing mascara in public, the Dubai newspaper Gulf News reported. According to the paper, the man was arrested by a police officer in civilian clothes in the Mall of the Emirates in what the police described as a glittering outfit, a bra, mascara, women's perfume and a wig. The defendant claims he was cross-dressing as part of his preparation for a small part in an upcoming Bollywood movie, when he received an urgent phone call. He also disputes claims that he tried to bribe the police officer who arrested him, arguing that he simply offered to pay the fine on the spot.

There are approximately 1.2 to 1.3 million Indians currently working in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), according to Indian diaspora groups. While most migrant workers from India, Pakistan and Bangladesh work in what was until recently a booming construction industry, there are also a large number of Indians working as white-collar managers in a variety of private companies in the seven Emirates that make up the UAE. While Dubai has worked to promote itself as modern and open society, human rights progress remains scant. According to Human Rights Watch, authorities censor and harass human rights activists, impeding independent reporting that could help curb abuses.

Hive Transgender's death triggers protest ?

PROTEST:Sexuality minorities display the memorandum they submitted to Victoria Hospital medical superintendent protesting against Shakila's death, which they attribute to medical negligence
.
Bangalore: Alleging that negligence by Victoria Hospital doctors caused the death Shakila, of a young transgender, members of Samara, a community organisation of sexuality minorities, staged a protest on the hospital premises on Tuesday.

While doctors denied negligence, Sumitra, one of the community members, who accompanied the 27-year-old patient to the hospital on Saturday, said Shakila was refused treatment and admission on April 23, the first day of the hospital visit.

According to Ms. Sumitra, the duty doctor turned down the patient “suspecting she was HIV positive”.

Very sick

Shakila was taken to the hospital on April 23 after a field worker called the Samara helpline about the transgender in need of urgent treatment for acute diarrhoea.

“As the patient looked weak and frail, the duty doctor suspected she was HIV positive. Though we protested in front of the Medical Superintendent's office, she was denied admission and treatment. She was lying on the hospital corridor all night. She was finally admitted on April 24 morning at 10.30 a.m. after HIV test reports showed she was negative,” Ms. Sumitra said.

According to another activist, the patient suffered a lot of stigma as the nurses and attenders refused to treat her.

“She died on Tuesday morning and doctors say she died of acute septicaemia. But her life could have been saved if she was given timely treatment,” said Mahesh, Coordinator of Karnataka Sexuality Minorities Forum.

Samara Secretary Soumya has filed a police complaint against the hospital. Samara members now plan to take up cases of discrimination against their community members at the national level. “We will take up the case to Human Rights Commission and the Health Secretary before placing it before National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO) in Delhi,” said Mahadesh, Samara programme director.

B.G. Tilak, Medical Superintendent of Victoria Hospital, denied bigotry. “The patient came to us for alcohol de-addiction treatment on April 23 and was treated as an out-patient. But, she came back again on April 24 with severe dehydration and was admitted immediately. She had acute gastroenteritis and candidiasis (a fungal infection) and died on Tuesday. I have asked the doctors to submit a detailed report. All patients are same for us and there has been no discrimination,” he added.

HEJADS CRIMAL ACTIVETES :- Eunuchs strip to extort, shopkeeper files plaint ?

Times of India, India
Eunuchs strip to extort, shopkeeper files plaint
TNN | Apr 24, 2011, 05.07am IST
AHMEDABAD: A shopkeeper on the busy Gandhi road had a tough time
warding off a bunch of stubborn eunuchs who demanded a huge sum from
him for his renovated store on Saturday. The shopkeeper gave in only
after the eunuchs stripped and refused to budge from his store.

It was around 1 pm when four eunuchs walked into the electronic goods
store which had just been renovated and demanded money, embarrassing
the customers. The shopkeeper tried telling them that the store was
only renovated and it was not new, but they refused to listen and
demanded Rs 5,000.

An argument ensued when the shopkeeper offered them Rs 500. They
abused and shouted and then stripped and sat in his shop refusing to
move. They banged the counter and created a ruckus. Since many clients
were waiting, the embarrassed staffers rushed to the Fernandez bridge
police chowky for help, but found no one since it was lunch hour.
Finally an hour after the naked eunuchs refused to budge from the
shop, the storekeeper gave them Rs 3000 to settle the bargain.

The eunuchs left only after warning the shopkeeper that he would have
to pay them each time they came, because he had not given them money
after buying the store.

The shopkeeper filed an application at the Khadia police station
against the eunuchs and also demanded police protection against them.

Dear Mr. Prakash,

Last week your station, TV9, aired an inflammatory program that has had a life-shattering impact on many of the people whose voices and faces were filmed, without their consent, in the report titled “Gay Culture Rampant in Hyderabad”. Please submit a PUBLIC APOLOGY for the damage caused by this broadcast, and publicly commit to never re-airing this program, or any similarly derogatory and anti-gay or anti-trans programming on TV9.

In your own words, you have said that TV9 should be, “a news channel that would be fiercely independent and bring the best professional practices to Telugu journalism.” The recently aired program falls far short of those standards, and TV9’s reputation as a fair and balanced news source is at risk as a result of the fall out from this offensive, and deeply unprofessional program. Please use your role as CEO of the network to ensure that the network regains its footing as a respectable news source, and regains the respect and trust of its viewers.

Thank You,

GAY Prince could face death penalty in Saudi Arabia

A Saudi prince accused of murdering his servant could face the death penalty in his home country over his alleged gay sex life, a court heard today.
Homosexuality is illegal under Saudi Arabia's sharia law code, an Old Bailey jury trying Saud Abdulaziz bin Nasser al Saud was told.

 <object classid='clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000' codebase='http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=8,0,0,0' width='640' height='360' id='IBNLive' align='middle'><param name='allowScriptAccess' value='always' /><param name='allowFullScreen' value='true' /><param name='movie' value='http://features.ibnlive.in.com/videos/embed/133159/C1520A46F5A03B820B85FADC2E7111C8385B6EFE0E8D09D692202B007C9F6465250AF9776187481B42E0EC7A9A0B83F19C6669118A745B72F748D25CA7C37F771E369F66612217CF656BDB790E44A6E177914C87F3C5/10_2010/death_for_prince1_271x181.jpg' /><param name='quality' value='high' /><param name='bgcolor' value='#ffffff' />    <embed src='http://features.ibnlive.in.com/videos/embed/133159/C1520A46F5A03B820B85FADC2E7111C8385B6EFE0E8D09D692202B007C9F6465250AF9776187481B42E0EC7A9A0B83F19C6669118A745B72F748D25CA7C37F771E369F66612217CF656BDB790E44A6E177914C87F3C5/10_2010/death_for_prince1_271x181.jpg' quality='high' bgcolor='#ffffff' width='640' height='360' name='IBNLive' align='middle' allowScriptAccess='always' allowFullScreen='true' type='application/x-shockwave-flash' pluginspage='http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer' /></object>
At times the families of defendants in such cases have pushed for the most severe penalty because of the perceived shame, the court heard.
Saud, 34, is accused of killing 32-year-old Bandar Abdulaziz during a ferocious attack with a "sexual element" in February.
Two male escorts are alleged to have performed sex acts on the prince at the Landmark hotel in central London where he and Mr Abdulaziz were staying.
John Kelsey-Fry QC, defending, has denied suggestions that the two men were in a gay relationship.
Bobbie Cheema, prosecuting, said: "Homosexuality is illegal in Saudi Arabia and carries the death penalty which is still applied in some cases.
"The country in which any alleged acts took place would have little bearing on the likelihood of prosecution as the Saudi legal system is based on the sharia law which is considered to be universal.
"Whether the defendant would be prosecuted is a matter for the Saudi authorities but would to some extent depend on the wishes of his family.
"There have been cases where the family have pushed for the most severe penalty, particularly where the individual is thought to have brought shame on the family.
"The defendant could be at risk from members of his own family who may feel that he has brought shame on the family.
"He could also be at risk from members of the victim's family, although as he is a member of the Saudi royal family this risk would be reduced.
"Saudi Arabian nationals have in the past applied for and been granted asylum in the United Kingdom on the basis that they are homosexual and would be at risk of prosecution - and potentially the death penalty - or harm if they returned to Saudi Arabia."
Mr Kelsey-Fry said the Saudi law as described in the admissions to the court read out by Miss Cheema would only apply "if it were the case that the defendant had engaged in homosexuality".
Saud denies murder and a second charge if grievous bodily harm with intent in relation to an earlier alleged assault in a hotel lift.
Mr Kelsey-Fry told the court he would not be calling the prince or any other witnesses to give evidence.
The judge, Mr Justice Bean, sent the jury away until Monday when he said there would be a closing speech by prosecutor Jonathan Laidlaw QC.
He said there would then be a speech by Mr Kelsey-Fry for the defence followed by the judge's summing up.
Jurors were told they would probably be sent out to consider their verdicts on Tuesday.

Pak .Gandu is Not Welcome to BigBoss S4 Immediately Remove Pakistani from the show Shiv Sena ( MNS )

Big Boss 4 contestants security threatened as Shiv Sena goons attack BB House

Far-right Hindu parties have one again shown their real face. Two prominent political parties of Mumbai Shiv Sena and MNS Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) are not happy with the new 'Bigg Boss' TV series that is being hosted by Salman Khan in the fourth season.

This time it has nothing to do with the presence of Khan. Actually their anger is guided towards two Pakistani artists who have been invited to participate in India’s popular show.

They are up against the administration. They are mounting pressure on the Big Boss administration to evict them from the show. This is not for the first time that they have raised their voice against Pakistanis presence in India. For long they have been opposed to Pakistan. They regard the Muslim country as India’s enemy number 1. Besides, they say that India should snap all ties with Pakistan as the country sponsor terrorism in India.

Since the show was introduced on Colors TV channel, the Hindu parties have been protesting their presence. The two Pakistanis are: model Veena Malik and TV actor Ali Saleem. It is important to point out here that Saleem is a controversial figure in the sense that his/her TV persona Begum Nawazish Ali is very popular both in Pakistan and India.

Shiv Sena Chitrapat wing chief Sangram Shirke said: "We request them to immediately remove Pakistanis from the show. Is there a dearth of celebrities in India that they must bring outsiders, that too from Pakistan?"  They have even written letter to the authorities, expressing their displeasure. However, till now the organizer of the show has not issued any comment on the controversy.

The Begum surfaces

Ali transforms into her Begum avatar to interview the nominated housemates in Bigg Boss today

Kunal Guha

After the announcement of the nominations yesterday, the mood in the Bigg Boss house was rather glum. So Bigg Boss decided to spice things up. The task allotted was to get Ali to transform into her Begum avatar and interview the four nominated housemates in the same bitchy fashion like she does on her chat show.

Bigg Boss also orders the housemates to look their best and orchestrate the show like a professional chat show. So they all get busy trying in picking their best clothes and accessories. But the most dramatic transformation had to be for Ali as it involved a complete makeover.

Ali begins with a shave and invites opinions from the female housemates to pick her attire for the chat show. While model Anchal Kumar is happy to help with makeup, Seema helps Begum with draping her pista-green-sequined sari that she dons with matching accessories. Once her makeover was complete, Begum hosted the chat show and entertained the housemates with her witty and rather candid questions.

One of her jabs at lawyer Abbas was, "Humne suna hain ki aap vakile safai ke saath saath vakile kasai bhi hai?" She also tells Seema, "Waise toh log kehte hain ki mein chorni hoon, par uske saath saath mein morni bhi hoon!"
